However, gauging the momentum of a bill is no small feat. Plural’s Momentum Indicator offers a novel way to assess a bill’s traction and potential for progress.

The Challenge of Predicting Legislative Progress

Identifying which bills are gaining traction is crucial for strategic planning and advocacy. Yet, without the right tools, policy professionals must rely on manual tracking and intuition. This often leads to missed opportunities and misallocated resources.

Plural’s Momentum Indicator: Your Legislative Monitoring Tool

Plural’s Momentum Indicator helps policy teams cut through the uncertainty. The Momentum Indicator provides a visual cue that indicates a bill’s momentum at a glance. Utilizing AI and comprehensive legislative data, the Momentum Indicator offers a predictive insight into the potential movement of legislation.

How It Works

Examining Historical Data

To develop the Momentum Indicator, the Plural team began by examining data from previous sessions. This includes:

  • Which bills went up for a passage vote in one or more chambers
  • The actions on those bills
  • Whether those bills were signed by executives

Training an AI Model

A machine learning model was trained using the historical legislative data. The model was trained to find patterns and make predictions about which historical bills would be most likely to come up for a vote. By the end of this process, Plural developed a predictive machine learning system capable of identifying bills with potential momentum.

Easily Find Bills With Momentum

Plural users can filter their search results to only show bills with potential momentum. To do so, open advanced search filter options and turn on “Show Only Momentum Bills.”
